Combi Oven Breakdown During School Holidays

Problem

A new customer’s Combi oven failed just before the September school holidays — their busiest trading period of the year.

Diagnosis

Scale buildup in the steam tank caused the heating elements to fail and affected the drain valve and high-limit thermostat. Replacement parts had to be shipped from overseas at significant cost, taking several weeks to arrive.

Outcome

The oven remained out of service through the holiday rush. The technician made two separate visits — one to diagnose the fault and order parts, then another to install, test and return the oven to service.

With a PM plan

Regular Combi oven PM service includes boiler-tank descaling and filter change. This prevents scale buildup, protects heating elements and extends the life of components such as the drain valve and high-limit thermostat.
